Writer: Ministry To StateMinistry To State

Praying for our newly elected officials.

The Scriptures instruct us to pray for our politicians and for the welfare of our nation (e.g. Jer. 29:7; 1 Tim. 2:1-4). With this in mind, we offer these prayers for the men and women who began serving in the 119th Congress on January 3rd, 2025.

Prayers For Integrity And Godliness.

We pray that members of the 119th Congress may serve our nation with integrity and godly character (Matt. 6:13).

We pray that our leaders will serve our nation in righteousness (Prov. 14:34).

We pray, Lord, in your mercy, that you will keep our leaders from dishonesty, corruption, and wickedness (Prov. 25:5).

Prayers For Justice And Mercy.

We pray that our congressional leaders will enact fair and just legislation (Lev. 19:15).

We pray for merciful leaders (Luke 6:36).

We prayerfully trust that our congressional leaders have been placed in authority by you, God, and that you are sovereign over their actions (Rom. 13:1-7; Col. 1:15-17).

Prayers For Peace And Safety.

We pray that members of the 119th Congress will promote peace in our nation and in the world (1 Tim. 2:1-2).

We pray that our congressional leaders will enact laws that keep our nation safe and that will protect the most vulnerable amongst us, including the poor, children, refugees, and all who are oppressed (Deut. 24:17; Psalm 72:4).

We pray that God will use our leaders to promote peace and unity in our nation, helping us to live at peace with all people (Rom. 12:18).

Prayers For Christians Serving In Congress.

We pray that the men and women who profess the name of Christ will serve in a godly manner, always exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23).

We pray that Christians serving in Congress will use wise and gracious words (Col. 4:5-6) and will show love to their political enemies (Matt. 5:44).

We pray that Christians serving in Congress will bear witness to Christ in the halls of power, that others may come to knowledge of the truth through their witness and integrity (1 Tim. 2:3-4).
