ABOUT MTS WYOMING
Ministry to State - Wyoming is a ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and exists as a means to minister to those serving in the Wyoming state government through fellowship, Bible study, and prayer.
OUR MISSION
GOSPEL
Expose those in the government community to the transforming truths of the gospel through healthy relationships.
WORLDVIEW
Provide encouragement and support in the development of a Biblical world and life view for those in government who make a profession of faith.
CONSCIENCE
Strive to be instrumental in establishing and maintaining a Biblical conscience throughout the government community who both create and implement policy.
CHURCH
Provide a healthy means to connect the church in a non-partisan manner with those in government.
PRAYER
Promote and facilitate specific and intelligent prayer by the body of Christ for those serving in government.
MEET THE WYOMING
STATE CAPITOL MINISTER
John Sackett
John Sackett is the State Capital Minister to Wyoming, having joined Ministry to State in 2026.
Born to missionary parents in Holland, John has also spent his early years in Indiana and the Philippines where Christ captured his heart, before growing up in Maryland. After high school John served as a reactor mechanical engineer for the US Navy for 6 years, then attended Washington Bible College where he fell in love with Reformed theology, the Church and Susan Collins.
John and Susan have been married 33 years and have 5 adult children, and 6 grandchildren all who love the Lord. John received his MDiv from Covenant Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts in Pastoral care from ILIFF School of Theology in Denver, CO.
John was ordained in 1998, and has served as a church planting intern then interim senior pastor for New Covenant in Abingdon, MD before taking a call as an Air Force chaplain for 20 years in Delaware, California, Japan, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. After retiring from the Air Force, John served for 7 years as an associate/executive pastor at Faith Covenant in Kalispell, MT.
John and Susan fell in love with the Rocky Mountain area in general, and Cheyenne in particular, while serving as an Air Force chaplain at nearby Warren Air Force Base. John is excited to take his love of people and heart for discipleship back to Cheyenne to serve the State Capitol of Wyoming.
