ABOUT MTS-MONTANA

Ministry to State - Mississippi is a ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and exists as a means to minister to those serving in the Mississippi state government through prayer, discipleship, and evangelism. 

OUR MISSION

GOSPEL

Expose those in the government community to the transforming truths of the gospel through healthy relationships.

WORLDVIEW

Provide encouragement and support in the development of a Biblical world and life view for those in government who make a profession of faith.

CONSCIENCE

Strive to be instrumental in establishing and maintaining a Biblical conscience throughout the government community who both create and implement policy.

CHURCH

Provide a healthy means to connect the church in a non-partisan manner with those in government.

PRAYER

Promote and facilitate specific and intelligent prayer by the body of Christ for those serving in government.

Richard Sutton

Richard Sutton is passionate about building meaningful relationships at the nexus of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and its transformational impact on the lives of people in the State of Mississippi.

 

With an educational background that includes a Political Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh, a Specialist in Educational Leadership from Mississippi State University, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law, his path has been marked by a commitment to service and leadership. After years of experience in banking, finance, and education, Richard felt called to deepen his theological understanding leading him to pursue studies at Reformed Theological Seminary. While attending RTS, he interned in youth and adult ministry at Brandon Presbyterian Church. This further prepared him for this current ministry role. 

 

Richard currently serves as a Ruling Elder at Lakeland Presbyterian Church in Flowood, Mississippi. In 2024, he accepted a call to serve with Ministry to State as Ministry Associate.  Richard and his wife Jane, live in Brandon, Mississippi.
