MEET THE GEORGIA
STATE CAPITOL MINISTER

Rev. Jim Shaw
Georgia is the battleground for the southeast. Both parties want desperately to hold this Bible-belt state. Ministry to State would see the Georgia statehouse held by Christ.
As a non-partisan ministry we seek to reach elected officials, staffers and appointees from every party and walk of life with the Good News and love of Jesus Christ. We do so through studies of God’s Word in group and individual settings, caring for those who are in spiritual need and providing trustworthy counsel. In all of this we point people to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Ministry to State also equips our churches to, as 1 Timothy 2 says, pray for their leaders.
Jim is originally from Birmingham and Brook grew up in Hudson, Ohio. He went to Alabama and she to Auburn. So, there’s that.
He received the MDiv. from Birmingham Theological Seminary and then served for many years in pulpit ministry in Alabama and Georgia. In 2025 Jim sensed God’s calling to begin the State Capitol ministry in Atlanta, Georgia with Ministry to State.
Jim and Brook have three adult children and one grandchild. He enjoys most things outdoors, tinkering with wristwatches and spending time with family. Jim’s sense of humor is really dry. You’ve been warned.
